Career life education 10

This week, we did the assignment “getting to know yourself” and this assignment made me know myself better. The purpose of these activities is is to give me a better understanding of what I am good at, my personality and temperament, and what kind of job I am suitable for and what changes I need to make in the future.

In part A, by multiple intelligences quiz, I found that my naturalistic and logical-Mathematical are weak, they are only 4. I think it is because I have no patience,  I am not suitable for raising plants. In the future, I will make myself more patient and try to enjoy the beauty brought by nature.  In addition, I found that my logical thinking is not good enough, because I am a very hesitant person, many times I do not know how to make the right choice, so I choose to ask for help from others. I agree with the result. But to my surprise, I had a high score of nine on visual-spatial. I love art and am very interested in exhibitions.

Moreover, I took a quiz to test my color and my true color is gold so that I can identify my individual characteristics. My individuals are loyal, dependable and prepared. I am very detail-oriented and like to plan ahead.

To sum up, the focus area of my interest is tour guides or media workers. First of all, I am a person who is full of love for life and likes to record beautiful moments with camera, so media workers and tour guides are my favorites. In the future, I will continue to keep the love of nature and life, at the same time, I also want to strengthen my logical thinking ability, through my own independent thinking to solve problems instead of asking for help from others. Also, I understand I will continue to develop new abilities and strengths to help me meet new challenges.

I can explain my values and my values will affect my choices. For example, I prefer to help others and work with others rather than work alone. When a team wants to work with me, I am glad to join them. In other words, I understand how my values shape my choices.

This assignment made me know more about my strengths and weaknesses as well as my personality. In the future, I will work harder for my ideal career.

Last week, Jame’s mother introduced the classification of journalism and communication majors and their employment in China to 10th and 11th students and their parents.

The Journalism is now a big business. The Journalism is divided into many types, we must understand clearly that which major I want to learn. There are a lot of majors such as media, news and communication. Among them, media and communication majors learn more broadly, including theoretical knowledge of culture, advertising and public relations. Journalism is not the same, not only to learn theoretical knowledge, but also a lot of practice.

The presentation focused on the news. The main content of this major is to study journalism, interview, literature, history, philosophy, writing, sociology, psychology, skills such as photography, broadcasting, editing and so on.
Employment direction: reporter, editor, anchor (TV, radio), director, etc. It is regular media unit commonly. Newspapers, magazines, news agencies, radio and television stations as well as online media, official accounts and apps established by these state media.

The reason I like this presentation is because I like journalism very much. If I am a news anchor I can be in front of the TV every day and broadcast the important and interesting events of the day to the people who come home. I think I will be a journalist or a radio worker in my future career. What attracted me most about this presentation was that it broke my understanding of journalism. In fact, this work is not only a single job like interviewing political elites or writing gorgeous articles, but also a complex and highly comprehensive job.

In fact, this article is helpfulp to my future career choice. It makes me understand that it is not easy to make achievements in this career, because I should learn not only one majors, such as philosophy, psychology, photography and so on. So I have to work hard to give myself the opportunity to have success in this career.

Today I am very lucky to be able to watch a presentation by Roger, a graduate of the class of 2018 from the university of Waterloo. He majored in Mathematics and took courses in Physics and Mathematics.

In this presentation, he described his work and experiences while studying Physics at the university of Waterloo. What impressed me most about his presentation was that it encouraged us to be teaching assistants. At first, I was puzzled as to why I should be a teaching assistant, but after hearing his explanation, I suddenly became enlightened. If I can help freshmen to understand a knowledge point is different from studying by myself. The best way to remember something is to tell it to someone else. When I tell this knowledge to others, I will review it thoroughly and then translate it into our own language to help others, which is a very good learning process.

In my opinion, the main point of this presentation is to have the courage to try. Those seemingly difficult courses are not as difficult as we think. In addition, we should actively sign up for and participate in various activities of teaching assistants, which can help us to have a richer life and more experience in university. While helping others, we can also get improvement and knowledge from it, which is not a unhappy thing.

In fact, what attracted me most about this presentation was the humorous way of expression of him. Unlike those boring presentations with a lot of professional knowledge, his presentation can attract the attention of most of 10th grade students and speak out our hearts. For example, we should not only study, but also rest and play. Before the exam, do not have to be too nervous, also do not need to stay up late to review, because the most important point is that listen carefully in the class. Furthermore, he also stood on the students’ point of view to tell us that those detours are bound to go, life is not always successful.

To sum up, it is my feelings after listening to the presentation and my views on the future.

What impressed me most in this term was the activity in math class. In math class, the teacher asked us to find our own partners to make a clinometer. We had cardboard, tape, highlighter, ruler, string and some coins. 

Firstly, Angela and I drew the clinometer we wanted on the cardboard and cut it out. During this process, we found that the clinometer we were drawing was very difficult to cut out, so we worked very carefully. 

After we cut out the clinometer, we draw the angles on the cardboard against the clinometer. At the teacher’s suggestion, we marked the angles with highlighters because it was easier to read the numbers.

Next, we use tape to tie the coins to the string so they hang down naturally. 

Finally, we went downstairs and measured the height of the flagpole and the street lamp, which was really an interesting activity.

This activity improved my abilities of communication and creative thinking. In the process of measurement, Angela and I had a little conflict. We had a different view of the way and order of measurement. But after communication, we solved the problem well. More importantly, In this activity, I had a lot of creative ideas. For example, how to make the clinometer more accurate, how to make a larger version of the clinometer, and so on.

All in all, this activity was very interesting and benefited me a lot.

This is a poster that includes some important events of different ages in my life. designed my own map of life and drew it. Fifteen years ago, a girl named Ariana came into this beautiful world. In kindergarten, I began to learn calligraphy and guzheng. When I was eight years old, my cousin was born. Although I was not satisfied with his arrival at first, because I thought he might take away the love from my families. But gradually, I also learnt to take care of him and played with him. Thank my cousin, taught me how to be a good cousin. On August 24, 2019, it was the first time for me to meet my classmates and also the first time for me to live in a dormitory. I was worried because we hadn’t seen each other before and we didn’t know each other. But to my surprise, my classmates are very enthusiastic and willing to make friends with me. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had successes and setbacks. I laughed, I cried. Looking back on those setbacks now, I can learn a lot from them. This life map allows me to look back at my own life over the last 15 years and define my life goals. What’s more, the road map improves my creative thinking, I  tried my best to make the map not boring.
